The first Hawfinches from a major national influx reached the valley on 15 October, with one noted over Haddiscoe Island and it, or another, flew south over nearby Thorpe-next Haddiscoe. Further notable passerines recorded at Haddiscoe Island on 15 October included two Lapland Buntings, a Wheatear, a Reed Warbler, four Water Pipits, six Rock Pipits, 197 Bearded Tits and eight Stonechats. A Grey Wagtail was seen at Oulton and two Water Pipits at Carlton Marshes, 15 October, a Brambling at St Olaves, 19 October and a late House Martin at Carlton Marshes, 21 October. Stonechats were noted at Thorpe Marshes, Haddiscoe (two), 15 October and Carlton Marshes (four), 21 October; Bearded Tits at Burgh Castle, 19 October and Carlton Marshes (five), 21 October; Cetti’s Warblers at Carlton Marshes, 15 October and Herringfleet Marshes (five), 17 October and Kingfishers at Beccles Marshes and Thorpe-next-Haddiscoe, 15 October.

A Jack Snipe, a Little Stint, two Greenshanks and three Green Sandpipers were seen at Haddiscoe Island, 15 October.

Raptors included a Hen Harrier and two Peregrines at Haddiscoe Island, 15 October, with a further Peregrine at Castle Marsh, North Cove, 20 October, while Marsh Harriers were noted at Herringfleet Marshes, 17 October, Somerleyton Marshes, 19 October and Carlton Marshes (three), 21 October. Two Short-eared Owls were hunting at Haddiscoe Island, 15 October.

Finally, a Little Egret was present at Carlton Marshes, 21 October.
