A male Black-winged Stilt was present at Carlton Marshes, 20 April. Other waders at Carlton Marshes included a Greenshank, 17 April, a Whimbrel, 18 April, seven Black-tailed Godwits and five Redshanks, 19 April, a Ruff and two Green Sandpipers, 20 April and ten Snipe, 22 April. Elsewhere, 11 Ruff and 38 Black-tailed Godwits were present at Aldeby shooting lakes and a Dunlin at Weybread GP, 16 April, eight Whimbrel at Castle Marsh, North Cove, 21 April and single Redshanks at Beccles Marshes, 18 April and Herringfleet Marshes and Oulton Marshes, 19 April.

An immature White-tailed Eagle flew south over Fritton Marshes during the afternoon of 22 April. Other notable raptors included a ringtail Hen Harrier at Carlton Marshes, 20 April, Red Kites at Beccles, 17 April and Fritton Marshes (two), 22 April, Peregrines at Worlingham, 18 April and Oulton Marshes, 21 April and six Buzzards at Carlton Marshes, 20 April. An escaped Harris’ Hawk was seen at North Cove SWT reserve, 21 April. Two Short-eared Owls were hunting at Carlton Marshes, 18 April and Barn Owls were reported from Weybread GP, 16 April, Carlton Marshes, 17 April and Lopham Fen, 18 April.

Passerine highlights included a male Ring Ouzel at Herringfleet, 19 April and a Wryneck at Carlton Marshes, 22 April. The first Cuckoo (Carlton Marshes, 20 April, with two at Carlton Marshes and one at Oulton Marshes, 21 April and one at Lopham Fen, 22 April), Swift (Carlton Marshes, 21 April) and Lesser Whitethroat (Carlton Marshes, 22 April) of the year were all recorded during the week. Eight Waxwings were seen at Bungay, 22 April. Wheatears were present at Carlton Marshes (two), 20 April and Castle Marsh, 21 April, two White Wagtails and two Yellow Wagtails were recorded at Carlton Marshes, 20 April and two Grey Wagtails at Shotford Bridge, Weybread, 16 April. Grasshopper Warblers were noted at Oulton Marshes (two), 16 April and Carlton Marshes (three), 20 April; Cetti’s Warblers at Castle Marsh and Weybread GP,16 April, Lopham Fen (two), 18 April, Carlton Marshes (17), Oulton Marshes (four), Aldeby, 19 April and Herringfleet Marshes (three) and Wheatacre Marshes, 21 April; Stonechats at Carlton Marshes, 19 April and Oulton Marshes (two), 21 April and Bearded Tits at Lopham Fen (two), 18 April and Herringfleet Marshes (two), 19 April.

A White Stork circled above the former Otter Trust centre at Earsham on 17 April before flying off north and a Spoonbill flew west over Castle Marsh and a Great White Egret flew over Herringfleet Marshes, 21 April. Little Egrets were noted at Herringfleet Marshes (three), 19 April and Carlton Marshes (two), 20 April and a male Garganey was present at Carlton Marshes, 22 April.
