Six Crossbills were seen at Waveney Forest, Fritton and a female Ring-necked Parakeet by Oulton Community Centre, 11 March. Counts of Waxwings included 22 at Bungay, 6 March, seven at Worlingham, 8 March and 16 at Beccles, 11 March. There was a notable arrival of Chiffchaffs on 11 March, with records received from Belton, Blundeston Marshes, Lopham Fen and Roydon Fen. A Grey Wagtail was seen at Oulton Marshes, 5 March and a Bearded Tit at the same site on 11 March. Bramblings were recorded at St Olaves (three), 7 March and Burgh Castle, 11 March; Stonechats at Oulton Marshes, 7 March and Carlton Marshes (two), 9 March; Cetti’s Warblers at Herringfleet Marshes (three), 7 March, Carlton Marshes (five), 10 March, Oulton Marshes (five) and Worlingham Marshes, 11 March and Kingfishers at Beccles Quay, 6 March, Carlton Marshes (two), 10 March and Oulton Marshes, 11 March.
Raptors at Haddiscoe Island included a Rough-legged Buzzard, two Marsh Harriers, three Short-eared Owls and two Barn Owls, 7 March. Elsewhere, Red Kites were noted at Ellingham, 10 March and Beccles, 11 March, Marsh Harriers at Carlton Marshes (two), 9 March and Lopham Fen (two), 11 March, while six Buzzards were recorded at Oulton Marshes, 10 March and five at Lopham Fen, 11 March. Further Short-eared Owls were reported from Oulton Marshes (four), 7 March and Carlton Marshes (two), 11 March, with Barn Owls from Oulton Marshes, 5 March, Carlton Marshes (two) and Herringfleet Marshes, 7 March and Lopham Fen, 11 March.
Waders at Burgh Castle included a Spotted Redshank, 7 March and 27 Avocets, 227 Black-tailed Godwits, 100 Redshanks and two Curlews, 11 March, while at Carlton Marshes a Dunlin was present on 5 March and a Redshank the following day. Two Woodcock were noted at St Olaves and 20 Snipe at Herringfleet Marshes, 7 March and 500 Golden Plovers at Ellough, 8 March. Finally, Little Egrets were reported from Beccles Marshes, 7 March, Carlton Marshes (two), 9 March and Haddiscoe Island (three) and Herringfleet Marshes, 11 March.
