Hen Reed Beds and Reydon Woods

Sunday 22 April

The Hen Reed Beds is a relatively new SWT Nature Reserve. It has a viewing platform and hides and attracts Bitterns, Marsh Harriers and Bearded Tits. It lies alongside the Blyth estuary, which is one of the region’s best venues to observe waders on spring passage that can be viewed from the river wall. We plan to also visit the ancient woodland at Reydon to look for songbirds. Other wildlife may include the first Orange Tip butterfly of the spring and rare plants such as Yellow Archangel and Early Purple Orchid.

8am start – meet Hen Reed Beds carpark alongside A1095
