A Crane flew north over Roydon Road, Diss mid afternoon on 26th February and a Great White Egret flew over Oulton Marshes, 4 March. Little Egrets were noted at Oulton Marshes (two), Haddiscoe Island, Harleston Marshes and Lopham Fen, 26 February and Carlton Marshes (two) and Outney Common, Bungay the following day.

Rough-legged Buzzard and five Short-eared Owls were recorded at Haddiscoe Island, 28 February. A Red Kite flew over Oulton, 27 February, two Peregrines flew north at St Olaves, 2 March and Marsh Harriers were noted at Thorpe-next-Haddiscoe (five), 26 February, Carlton Marshes, 2 March and Lopham Fen (two), 4 March. A Short-eared Owl was hunting at Oulton Marshes, 3 March, while Barn Owls were seen at Carlton Marshes (four) and Oulton Marshes, 2 March.

A Water Pipit was seen at Carlton Marshes, five Bramblings at Ellough and two Nuthatches at Outney Common, Bungay, 27 February. Grey Wagtails were noted at Worlingham, 26 February, Barnby, 1 March and Camps Heath, Oulton, 2 March; Stonechats at Haddiscoe Island (four) and Oulton Marshes, 26 February and Carlton Marshes (four), 4 March; Bearded Tits at Lopham Fen and Oulton Marshes, 26 February and Cetti’s Warblers at Oulton Marshes, 26 February and Carlton Marshes, 2 March. A flock of 100 Fieldfares was present at Worlingham Marshes, 26 February and 930 Redwings flew low south-east over Carlton Marshes, 27 February.

Waders included a Common Sandpiper at Oulton Marshes, 26 February, Green Sandpipers at Harleston Marshes, 26 February and Worlingham, 27 February and 360 Golden Plovers at Ellough Airfield, 27 February, while at Carlton Marshes a Woodcock was noted on 2 March and a Redshank on 4 March.

Sightings of Waxwings included 25 at Oulton, 20 February and 21 at Bungay, 24 February. A flock of 28 Lesser Redpolls was seen at Waveney Forest, Fritton and a Grey Wagtail at Oulton Marshes, 19 February, two Bramblings at St Olaves, 20 February and a Crossbill at Waveney Forest, 24 February. Stonechats were recorded at Oulton Marshes, 19 February and Carlton Marshes (two), 21 February; Bearded Tits at Fritton Marshes (two) and Oulton Marshes, 19 February and St Olaves (two), 20 February and Cetti’s Warblers at Oulton Marshes, 19 February and St Olaves, 20 February. Two Kingfishers were noted at Carlton Marshes, 19 February.

A Rough-legged Buzzard was regularly reported from Haddiscoe Island throughout the week. Other raptors seen at this site included a Merlin, male and ringtail Hen Harriers, six Short-eared Owls and two Barn Owls, 19 February, a Red Kite and a Peregrine and 11 Marsh Harriers and five Buzzards, 20 February. Elsewhere, single Red Kites were seen at Ditchingham, 20 February and St Olaves, 21 February, Marsh Harriers at St Olaves (two), 20 February, Carlton Marshes, 21 February and Belton Marshes, 24 February, Short-eared Owls at Oulton Marshes (three), 19 February and Belton Marshes, 24 February and Barn Owls at Carlton Marshes and Oulton Marshes, 19 February.

Early morning easterly movements of Bewick’s Swans included 160 over Burgh Castle, 19 February, 34 over Thorpe-next-Haddiscoe and 26 over Carlton Marshes, 21 February and 22 over Oulton Marshes, 24 February. 30 White-fronted Geese and 1800 Pink-footed Geese were noted at Haddiscoe Island, 20 February.

Records of waders included a Spotted Redshank at Burgh Castle, 19 February, a Green Sandpiper at St Olaves and 80 Curlews at Haddiscoe Island, 20 February and six Redshanks at Carlton Marshes, 22 February. Finally, Little Egrets were reported from Oulton Marshes, 19 February, Haddiscoe Island (eight) and St Olaves, 20 February and Carlton Marshes (two), 22 February.

A flock of 21 Waxwings was seen off Beccles Road, Bungay, 16 and 17 February. A Black Redstart was recorded along Top Road, Ilketshall St Lawrence, 16 February, a Grey Wagtail at Herringfleet Marshes, 17 February and four Crossbills at Waveney Forest, Fritton, 18 February. Bramblings were noted at Thorpe-next-Haddiscoe (eight), 12 February, Worlingham (two), 13 February and St Olaves (two), 18 February; Stonechats at Oulton Marshes and Worlingham, 14 February and Carlton Marshes (three), 15 February; Bearded Tits at Haddiscoe Marshes (five), 12 February, Lopham Fen, 13 February and Herringfleet Marshes (four) and Oulton Marshes, 17 February; Cetti’s Warblers at Redgrave Fen, 14 February, Carlton Marshes (two), 16 February and Herringfleet Marshes, 17 February and Kingfishers at Carlton Marshes, 13 February and Redgrave Fen, 14 February.

Raptors at Haddiscoe Island included a Rough-legged Buzzard, 15 February, three Marsh Harriers and three Short-eared Owls, 16 February, a male and a ringtail Hen Harrier and a Peregrine, 17 February and three Barn Owls, 18 February. Elsewhere, Marsh Harriers were noted at Carlton Marshes and Lopham Fen, 16 February and Herringfleet Marshes, 17 February, five Short-eared Owls were hunting at Oulton Marshes, 17 February and Barn Owls were reported from Carlton Marshes, 12 February and Herringfleet Marshes (two) and Oulton Marshes, 17 February.

A first-winter Glaucous Gull was seen along the river at Burgh Castle, 18 February. A Whooper Swan and 170 Tufted Ducks were noted at Earsham, 15 February and four White-fronted Geese and 1000 Pink-footed Geese at Haddiscoe Island, 16 February.

Three Redshanks were present at Carlton Marshes, 12 February and a Green Sandpiper and 700 Lapwings at Earsham, 15 February. Woodcock were noted at Oulton Marshes, 15 February and Waveney Forest (two), 18 February. Finally, Little Egrets were recorded at Burgh St Peter and Lopham Fen, 13 February, Beccles Marshes, 16 February, Haddiscoe Island (two) and Herringfleet Marshes, 17 February and Carlton Marshes (three), 18 February.

Three Waxwings were seen in a club member’s garden at Worlingham, 6 February, while nearby in Beccles, 12 Waxwings were seen along Banham Road, 9 and 10 February. A Stonechat was present at Oulton Marshes, 5 February, a Grey Wagtail at Worlingham, 6 February and three Bramblings at St Olaves, 9 February. Bearded Tits were noted at Oulton Marshes (12), 5 February, Burgh Castle, 8 February and Fritton Marshes, 11 February and Kingfishers at Oulton Marshes and Weybread GP, 5 February.

Raptors at Haddiscoe Island included a Rough-legged Buzzard, a male and a ringtail Hen Harrier, a Peregrine, 12 Short-eared Owls and two Barn Owls, 5 February and eight Marsh Harriers, 9 February. Elsewhere, single Peregrines were seen at Flixton GP, 5 February and Oulton Marshes, 10 February and Marsh Harriers at Oulton Marshes, 6 February and Lopham Fen (two), 11 February. Three Short-eared Owls were hunting at Oulton Marshes, 5 February and Barn Owls were reported from Carlton Marshes and Mettingham Marshes, 5 February.

Three White-fronted Geese were present at Castle Marsh, North Cove, 11 February, while Pink-footed Geese were recorded at Waveney Forest, Fritton (50 flew over), 5 February and Haddiscoe Island (30), 9 February.

A second-winter Mediterranean Gull was seen at Burgh Castle, 8 February. Waders at Carlton Marshes included eight Redshanks, 5 February and a Jack Snipe and 45 Snipe, 10 February, with a Green Sandpiper and two Black-tailed Godwits recorded at Flixton GP, 5 February. Little Egrets were noted at Haddiscoe Island (four), Flixton (near Bungay), Mendham Marshes and Mettingham Marshes, 5 February.

Six Tundra Bean Geese were present between Carlton Marshes and Barnby Marshes, 30 January and five Brent Geese at Haddiscoe Island, 31 January. White-fronted Geese were noted at Castle Marsh, North Cove (100 flew over), 29 January, Haddiscoe Island (six), 31 January and Herringfleet Marshes (12), 3 February, 120 Pink-footed Geese flew north at St Olaves, 29 January, 111 Greylag Geese were recorded at Herringfleet Marshes, 3 February and 40 Barnacle Geese had returned to Earsham, 4 February.

At Haddiscoe Island, a Rough-legged Buzzard was seen regularly throughout the week and was joined by a Hen Harrier, 30 January and six Short-eared Owls, 3 February. Single Marsh Harriers were noted at Lopham Fen, 29 February, Oulton Marshes, 31 January, Waveney Forest, Fritton, 2 February and Herringfleet Marshes, 3 February, two Short-eared Owls were hunting at Oulton Marshes, 3 February and Barn Owls were reported from Haddiscoe Marshes, 30 January, Mendham, 31 January and Oulton Marshes, 4 February.

A Brambling was seen at Aldeby, 29 January, two Water Pipits at Carlton Marshes, 30 January, a flock of 150 Fieldfares at Blundeston, 2 February and a Chiffchaff at Oulton Marshes, 4 February. Stonechats were recorded at Worlingham Marshes (two), 29 January, Carlton Marshes (two), 31 January and Oulton Marshes (two), 4 February; Bearded Tits at Lopham Fen, 29 January, Herringfleet Marshes (two), 3 February and Oulton Marshes, 4 February; Cetti’s Warblers at Carlton Marshes (11), 30 January, Herringfleet Marshes, 3 February and Oulton Marshes (four) and Lopham Fen, 4 February and Kingfishers at Herringfleet Marshes, 3 February and Oulton Marshes, 4 February.

Waders at Burgh Castle included a Black-tailed Godwit, a Curlew and a Redshank, 31 January and a Spotted Redshank, 3 February. Finally, Little Egrets were noted at Fritton Marshes (two), 2 February and Blundeston Marshes and Lopham Fen, 4 February.

Six Goosanders were present on the river at North Cove, 22 January and five Goosanders on the river at Beccles, 26 January. A male Mandarin was noted on the river at North Cove, 26 January, 120 Teal were counted at Burgh Castle, 27 January and 150 Wigeon at Oulton Marshes, 28 January. White-fronted Geese were recorded at Castle Marsh, North Cove (29 flew west), 26 January and Shipmeadow (35), 28 January and a single Pink-footed Goose flew over Oulton, 23 January.

Haddiscoe Island hosted a Rough-legged Buzzard, a male Hen Harrier, a Peregrine and a Barn Owl, 22 January, nine Short-eared Owls, 26 January and a ringtail Hen Harrier and three Marsh Harriers, 27 January. Elsewhere, Marsh Harriers were noted at Carlton Marshes, 27 January and Oulton Marshes, 28 January, three Short-eared Owls were hunting at Oulton Marshes, 28 January and Barn Owls were reported from Herringfleet Marshes, 22 January and Oulton Marshes, 24 January.

Three Water Pipits were present at Castle Marsh, 22 to 25 January. Bramblings were seen at Beccles (ten) and North Cove, 22 January; Chiffchaffs at Oulton Marshes, 24 January and Burgh Castle, 27 January; Cetti’s Warblers at Castle Marsh (two), 22 January and Carlton Marshes (three), 27 January; Bearded Tits at Herringfleet Marshes (nine) and Castle Marsh (three), 22 January, Oulton Marshes (two), 24 January and Carlton Marshes (two) and Haddiscoe Island (two), 27 January; Stonechats at Castle Marsh (four), 22 January, Oulton Marshes, 24 January and Worlingham Marshes, 28 January and Kingfishers at Weybread GP (two), 22 January and Carlton Marshes (two), 27 January.

Waders at Burgh Castle included 40 Redshanks, 22 January and 50 Curlews, 27 January. A Woodcock was seen at Ditchingham, 22 January, a Green Sandpiper at Haddiscoe Island, 27 January and a Redshank at Oulton Marshes, 28 January. Finally, Little Egrets were recorded at Outney Common, Bungay (three), 25 January and Carlton Marshes and Fritton, 27 January.

Four Waxwings were seen at the junction of Coney Hill and Ellough Road, Worlingham until 17 January and a Firecrest was seen at Fisher Row, Oulton, 20 January. Three Bramblings were noted at St Olaves, 15 January, a Cetti’s Warbler at Oulton Marshes and a Water Pipit at Carlton Marshes, 20 January and a Chiffchaff at Burgh Castle, 21 January. Bearded Tits were recorded at Carlton Marshes, 17 January, Oulton Marshes (20), 19 January, Fritton Marshes and Lopham Fen, 20 January and Haddiscoe Marshes (12) and Burgh Castle (two), 21 January and Stonechats at Carlton Marshes (two), 18 January, Oulton Marshes (two) and Beccles Marshes, 20 January and Belton Marshes, 21 January.

Seven Goosanders were seen on Oulton Dyke, 19 and 20 January, with six Goosanders on the river at North Cove, 21 January. A flock of 250 Wigeon was present at Oulton Marshes, 15 January and 300 Teal at Glebe Marsh, Burgh Castle, 21 January. Two Tundra Bean Geese, five White-fronted Geese and 1000 Pink-footed Geese were noted at Haddiscoe Marshes, 18 January, a single White-fronted Goose flew north-west over Burgh Castle, 17 January and 100 Pink-footed Geese flew south at St Olaves, 19 January.

Haddiscoe Island hosted a Peregrine and two Barn Owls, 20 January and four Short-eared Owls, 21 January, while at nearby Haddiscoe Marshes a ringtail Hen Harrier was seen on 21 January. Elsewhere, a Peregrine was recorded at Oulton Marshes, 20 January, Marsh Harriers at Oulton Marshes and Somerleyton Marshes, 16 January, Carlton Marshes (three), 18 January and Worlingham Marshes, 21 January, two Short-eared Owls at Oulton Marshes, 16 January and Barn Owls at Somerleyton, 17 January, Beccles, 19 January, Lopham Fen (two) and Oulton Marshes, 20 January and Bungay and Worlingham Marshes, 21 January.

Waders at Burgh Castle included 15 Curlews and three Redshanks, 17 January and 40 Avocets, 100 Black-tailed Godwits and 43 Dunlin, 21 January. A Green Sandpiper and 174 Snipe were seen at Carlton Marshes, 15 January, with a Redshank at the same site on 21 January and another Redshank at Oulton Marshes and a Woodcock at Ditchingham on the same day. An adult Caspian Gull was seen near Haddiscoe Church, 19 January and Little Egrets were noted at Oulton Marshes, 16 January, Carlton Marshes, 18 January and Haddiscoe Island (nine) and Worlingham Marshes, 21 January.

Three Waxwings were seen in Worlingham at the junction of Coney Hill and Ellough Road, 12 and 13 January, increasing to five, 14 January. Bramblings were noted at North Cove SWT reserve, 9 January and St Olaves (three), 14 January, Lesser Redpolls at North Cove SWT reserve, 9 January and St Olaves (two), 12 January and Bearded Tits at Lopham Fen (eight) and Oulton Marshes, 12 January and Herringfleet Marshes (two), 13 January. A flock of 60 Siskins was noted at Worlingham Marshes, 8 January, with a Stonechat at Oulton Marshes, 8 January, a Grey Wagtail at North Cove, 12 January, a Cetti’s Warbler at Oulton Marshes, 12 January and a Kingfisher, Beccles Quay, 11 January.

Raptors at Haddiscoe Island on 10 January included a Rough-legged Buzzard, a Peregrine, five Marsh Harriers and three Short-eared Owls. Elsewhere, male Hen Harriers were seen at Worlingham Marshes, 8 January and St Olaves, 14 January, a Red Kite flew over Barnby and North Cove, 12 January, Peregrines were recorded at Oulton Marshes, 8 January and Wheatacre Marshes, 11 January and Marsh Harriers at Wheatacre Marshes, 11 January, Herringfleet Marshes, 13 January and Carlton Marshes (six), 14 January. Two Short-eared Owls were hunting at Oulton Marshes, 8 January, with a Barn Owl noted at the same site on 14 January.

A Whooper Swan was noted at Earsham, 11 January, while three Tundra Bean Geese and two White-fronted Geese were present at Haddiscoe Marshes, 11 January, 35 White-fronted Geese at Castle Marsh, North Cove, 8 January, 1,200 Pink-footed Geese at Burgh St Peter, 11 January and 100 Wigeon at Oulton Marshes, 8 January.

Wader records included Woodcock at Barsham Marshes (two) and St Olaves, 11 January, 1,000 Lapwings at Burgh St Peter, 11 January and Snipe at Carlton Marshes (12), 11 January and St Olaves (12), 14 January. Finally, a Little Egret was present at Oulton Marshes, 8 January.

76 White-fronted Geese were present at Castle Marsh, North Cove, 1 January and 90 flew west over Carlton Marshes, 2 January, while Pink-footed Geese were seen at Oulton Marshes (300 in flight) and Somerleyton Marshes (36), 2 January, Ashby (40 in flight), 4 January and Blundeston Marshes (100), 7 January.

Water Pipits were recorded at Oulton Marshes (two), 2 January and Carlton Marshes (two), 3 January; Grey Wagtails at Carlton Marshes and Worlingham Marshes, 1 January and Oulton, 5 January; Stonechats at Castle Marsh (two), 1 January and Carlton Marshes, 6 January; Bearded Tits at Carlton Marshes, 1 January, Oulton Marshes (eight), 2 January and Burgh Castle, 3 January and Cetti’s Warblers at Carlton Marshes (four) and Castle Marsh, 1 January and Oulton Marshes (five), 2 January. A Brambling was seen at St Olaves and a Lesser Redpoll at Carlton Marshes, 1 January.
