The highlight of the week was a Black Stork which flew south-east over Carlton Colville at 10.35am on 5 June.
A Wood Sandpiper was present at Carlton Marshes, 1 June, while Little Egrets were recorded at Belton Marshes, 6 June and Carlton Marshes (six) the following day.
An unseasonable Merlin was a surprise sighting at Belton Marshes, 6 June. Other raptors included a female Peregrine at Thorpe-next-Haddiscoe, 5 June, Red Kites at Somerleyton, 1 June and Thorpe-next-Haddiscoe, 5 June, and Hobbies at Beccles Marshes, 3 June, St Olaves, 5 June and Carlton Marshes, 7 June.
Single Turtle Doves were recorded at Beccles Marshes, 3 June and Thorpe-next-Haddiscoe, 7 June, with a Spotted Flycatcher noted at Carlton Marshes, 7 June and a Grey Wagtail and four Cetti’s Warblers at Beccles Marshes, 3 June.
