WBC Sightings

11 to 17 August

A Garganey was present at Carlton Marshes, 11 to 13 and 15 August. An impressive count of 60 Egyptian Geese was made at Burgh Castle, 11 August, and three Little Egrets were noted at Carlton Marshes, 11 to 13 August.

Waders at Carlton Marshes included six Greenshanks, four Curlews and a Green Sandpiper, 11 August, a Ruff, 13 August, and 15 Snipe and a Golden Plover, 15 August. Elsewhere, a Greenshank and a Common Sandpiper were present at Burgh Castle and four Green Sandpipers at Haddiscoe Island, 11 August, a Golden Plover at St James South Elmham, 12 August and five Green Sandpipers at Earsham GP, 14 August.

A pre-roost count of 15 Yellow Wagtails was made at Burgh Castle, 11 August. Juvenile Cuckoos were seen at Carlton Marshes, 11 and 15 August, and a Spotted Flycatcher at Thorpe-next-Haddiscoe, 15 August. A Kingfisher was noted at Beccles Marshes, 13 August.

Notable raptors included a Hobby at Carlton Marshes, a Peregrine at Herringfleet Marshes and Red Kites at Barnby and Beccles, 11 August.
