WBC Sightings

12 to 18 July 2015

Waders at Carlton Marshes included a Ruff, two Black-tailed Godwits, three Greenshanks and two Little Ringed Plovers, 13 July, two Redshanks, 14 July, 12 Green Sandpipers, 15 July and an Avocet, 18 July, while at Burgh Castle the wader count included 63 Black-tailed Godwits, 21 Curlews and 15 Redshanks, 12 July and a Whimbrel, a Grey Plover, a Greenshank and 54 Avocets, 16 July. Further Green Sandpipers were present at Redgrave Fen, 16 July and Earsham GP (eight), 17 July, with a Curlew and a Redshank noted at Haddiscoe Island, 15 July. Little Egrets were reported from Carlton Marshes (four) and Redgrave Fen (four), 13 July and Burgh Castle (11), 16 July.

Two Turtle Doves were seen at Beccles Marshes, 16 July, while Cuckoos were noted at Carlton Marshes, 13 July and St Olaves, 14 July and Kingfishers at Weybread GP, 12 July and Beccles Quay and Redgrave Fen, 16 July. A Siskin flew over Burgh Castle, 15 July. A Grasshopper Warbler was singing at Lopham Fen, 14 July, while Cetti’s Warblers were reported from Burgh Castle, 14 July and Oulton Marshes, 18 July and Bearded Tits from Burgh Castle, 12 July, Fritton Marshes (two), 15 July and Herringfleet, 16 July.

Hobbies were recorded at Waveney Forest, Fritton, 15 July and Redgrave Fen (two) and Oulton Marshes, 18 July and Barn Owls at Beccles Marshes (two), 12 July, Carlton Marshes, 13 July, Lopham Fen, 14 July and Burgh Castle, 16 July.
