WBC Sightings

13 to 19 July 2014

An adult Rose-coloured Starling was seen briefly along Burnt Hill Lane, Carlton Colville during the evening of 19 July. Nearby Carlton Marshes hosted a Kingfisher, 18 July and two singing Grasshopper Warblers the following day.

Waders at Carlton Marshes included one Wood Sandpiper, one Whimbrel, one Greenshank, one Common Sandpiper and one Green Sandpiper, 13 July and one Black-tailed Godwit and one Redshank, 18 July. Elsewhere, a Wood Sandpiper was present at Earsham GP and a Greenshank at Thorpe-next-Haddiscoe, 14 July and five Whimbrels, 40 Curlews, three Avocets, 12 Black-tailed Godwits and 15 Redshanks at Burgh Castle, 16 July.

The eight Garganey at Carlton Marshes from last week were still present on 13 July, with two present on 14 July and six from 16 to 18 July. Little Egrets were noted at Carlton Marshes (eight), 13 July and Burgh Castle (two), 16 July, while Mediterranean Gulls were recorded at Burgh Castle Flats, 16 July and Carlton Marshes (two), 18 July.

Finally, Hobbies were seen at Carlton Marshes (two) and Worlingham Marshes, 13 July and St Olaves, 19 July and a Barn Owl at Carlton Marshes, 16 July.
