The long-staying American Bittern at Carlton Marshes was last seen on 16 May. A flock of seven Cranes circled over St Olaves on the 19th and then continued south-east along the valley and over Carlton Marshes at 12.30pm.They subsequently flew back west over Carlton Marshes later in the afternoon. A Little Egret was noted at Carlton Marshes, 15 May.
An Osprey flew east over Carlton Marshes, 13 May and a Peregrine was seen at the same site the following day. Red Kites were reported from Lopham Fen, 13 May, Carlton Marshes, 15 and 19 May, Barnby, 17 May and North Cove, 19 May, Hobbies from Lopham Fen, 13 May and Carlton Marshes (three) and Ashby, 15 May and Barn Owls from Carlton Marshes and Oulton Marshes, 13 May.
Cuckoos were noted at Carlton Marshes (two) and Oulton Marshes, 13 May and Beccles Marshes and Worlingham Marshes, 15 May and Grasshopper Warblers at Carlton Marshes (two) and Oulton Marshes, 13 May. Four Yellow Wagtails and three Cetti’s Warblers were recorded at Carlton Marshes, 15 May.
A pair of Mandarin Ducks was noted at Fritton Lake, 17 May and two Mediterranean Gulls at Carlton Marshes, 18 May.
Finally, waders at Carlton Marshes included eight Redshanks, 13 May and a Black-tailed Godwit, 15 May.
