WBC Sightings

14 to 20 July 2019

Singing Grasshopper Warblers were heard at Carlton Marshes, 14 July and Thorpe-next-Haddiscoe, 20 July, a Cetti’s Warbler was noted at Carlton Marshes, 14 July and five Bearded Tits were recorded at Herringfleet Marshes, 18 July.

Waders at Herringfleet Marshes included 18 Black-tailed Godwits and a Common Sandpiper, 16 July and three Green Sandpipers, a Curlew and three Redshanks, 18 July, while at Carlton Marshes a Ruff, two Greenshanks, a Green Sandpiper and two Redshanks were present on 14 July. Elsewhere, three Green Sandpipers were seen at Earsham GP, 16 July and a Green Sandpiper and a Curlew at Thorpe-next-Haddiscoe the following day.

Two adult Mediterranean Gulls were seen at Thorpe-next-Haddiscoe, 16 July. Little Egrets were noted at Carlton Marshes (three), 14 July, Herringfleet Marshes, 15 July and Thorpe-next-Haddiscoe, 16 July.

Notable raptors included a Red Kite at Carlton Marshes, 14 July, single Hobbies at Herringfleet Marshes, 15 July and Beccles Marshes, and Thorpe-next-Haddiscoe, 16 July and a Barn Owl at Carlton Marshes, 15 July.
