WBC Sightings

14 to 20 October 2018

A Yellow-browed Warbler was recorded at Fallowfields, Oulton, 14 October, while single Bramblings were seen at Beccles, 14 October and Carlton Marshes, 19 October. A Grey Wagtail was noted at Oulton, a Cetti’s Warbler at Worlingham Marshes and three Stonechats at Carlton Marshes, 14 October, with Bearded Tits reported from Lopham Fen (two), 16 October, Carlton Marshes (two), 19 October and Oulton Marshes (two), 20 October. A count of 54 Pied Wagtails was made at Lopham Fen, 16 October.

The long-staying adult Cattle Egret at Carlton Marshes was seen regularly throughout the week and three Little Egrets were noted at Lopham Fen, 16 October.

A Knot and a Green Sandpiper were present at Redgrave Fen, 16 October and a count of 31 Snipe was made at Carlton Marshes, 19 October.

Two Marsh Harriers were seen at Lopham Fen, 16 October and counts of five Buzzards were made at Lopham Fen and Somerleyton, 19 October. A Short-eared Owl and a Barn Owl were hunting at Carlton Marshes, 20 October.

A flock of 33 Pink-footed Geese flew north over Carlton Marshes, 14 October. Finally, a late first-winter Common Tern was seen at Carlton Marshes, 14 October.
