WBC Sightings

15 to 21 July 2018

A Cattle Egret was present at Outney Common, Bungay, 17 July and a Spoonbill flew north over Carlton Marshes on 15 July. Little Egrets were recorded at Carlton Marshes (three), 15 July, Redgrave Fen (two), 18 July and Worlingham Marshes, 19 July and Mediterranean Gulls at Carlton Marshes (16), 15 July and Beccles (four), 16 July.

Waders at Carlton Marshes included a Greenshank, 15 July, four Ruff, 17 Black-tailed Godwits and eight Snipe, 19 July, a Little Ringed Plover and four Green Sandpipers, 20 July and a Whimbrel and a Common Sandpiper, 21 July. Elsewhere, four Common Sandpipers were noted at Worlingham Marshes, 19 July and three Green Sandpipers at Thorpe-next-Haddiscoe, 20 July.

Two pairs of Spotted Flycatchers both with young were seen at St James South Elmham during the week and a further Spotted Flycatcher was recorded at Flixton (near Bungay), 21 July. A Grasshopper Warbler, two Yellow Wagtails and two Stonechats were noted at Carlton Marshes, 15 July and Kingfishers were reported from Redgrave Fen, 18 July and Worlingham Marshes, 19 July.

A Peregrine was seen at Carlton Marshes, 15 July. Hobbies were recorded at Carlton Marshes (two), 15 July and North Cove and Somerleyton, 21 July and Barn Owls at Carlton Marshes, 15 July, Worlingham Marshes, 18 July and Flixton (near Bungay) and North Cove, 21 July.
