WBC Sightings

16 to 22 June 2013

A Red Kite was seen over Gillingham Marshes, 16 June, and another, along with a Marsh Harrier, was seen at Worlingham, 22 June. Hobbies were noted at Ashby (two) and Flixton Marshes (near Lowestoft), 16 June, and a Barn Owl was logged at Beccles Marshes, 18 June.

Wader highlights included a Whimbrel at Thorpe-next-Haddiscoe, two Greenshanks and two Curlews at Carlton Marshes and a Redshank at Beccles Marshes, 18 June. The highest count of Little Egrets was of 12 at Carlton Marshes, also 18 June.

A Turtle Dove was purring at Scole, 21 June. Spotted Flycatchers were recorded at Beccles (two), 16 June and Weybread House, 21 June, a Cuckoo was seen at Camps Heath Marshes, 16 June, and a reeling Grasshopper Warbler was heard at Carlton Marshes, 18 June. Grey Wagtails were logged at Earsham Mill and Syleham Mill, 21 June, and Kingfishers at Weybread Mill and Earsham Mill on the same day.
