WBC Sightings

19 to 25 October 2014

A Rough-legged Buzzard was present at Haddiscoe Island, 22 October. Also seen at Haddiscoe Island during the week were three Marsh Harriers, 20 October, a Barn Owl, 23 October, a ringtail Hen Harrier, a Peregrine and four Common Buzzards, 24 October and five Short-eared Owls, 25 October. Elsewhere, Marsh Harriers were noted at Beccles Marshes, 23 October and Fritton Marshes (two), 24 October and a Barn Owl at Barsham Marshes, 24 October.

Haddiscoe Island also hosted a Great White Egret throughout the week, while Little Egrets were reported from Haddiscoe Island (16), 20 October, Redgrave Fen (two) and Lopham Fen, 23 October and Carlton Marshes (three), 25 October.

Bearded Tits were recorded at Lopham Fen (ten), 23 October and Haddiscoe Island (100) and Carlton Marshes (six), 25 October; Stonechats at Beccles Marshes (two), Fritton Marshes (two) and Oulton Marshes (two), 23 October; Cetti’s Warbler at Beccles Marshes, 23 October and Carlton Marshes (two), 25 October and Kingfishers at Bungay, 19 October, Redgrave Fen (two), 23 October and Beccles Marshes, 25 October.

A total of eight Jack Snipe and 24 Common Snipe were located at Carlton Marshes, 19 October and a flock of 40 Pink-footed Geese flew south over St Olaves, 25 October.
