WBC Sightings

2 to 8 November 2014

The first Bewick’s Swans (three) of the autumn were present at Castle Marsh, North Cove, 8 November, while a flock of 400 Pink-footed Geese flew north-east over Blundeston late morning on the same day.

A Great White Egret flew high south over Herringfleet Marshes late afternoon on 4 November and a Little Egret was seen at the same site on 6 November. A Bittern was observed in flight at Fisher Row, Oulton, 2 November.

A ringtail Hen Harrier was seen at Thorpe Marshes, Haddiscoe, 5 and 8 November, while Marsh Harriers were noted at Herringfleet Marshes (seven), Beccles Marshes and Haddiscoe Marshes, 4 November. Barn Owls were recorded at Herringfleet Marshes, 4 November and Oakley, 5 November.

A late Blackcap was present at Thorpe-next-Haddiscoe, 8 November. A Grey Wagtail was seen at Oulton, 2 November, while Stonechats were recorded at Oulton Marshes, 4 November and Thorpe-next-Haddiscoe, 8 November. Four Bearded Tits and two Cetti’s Warblers were noted at Herringfleet Marshes, 4 November, with another Cetti’s Warbler at Beccles Marshes on the same day. Finally, a Kingfisher and 50 Pied Wagtails were recorded at Carlton Marshes, 4 November.
