WBC Sightings

21 to 27 July 2013

Waders at Carlton Marshes included a Whimbrel, three Curlews and a Dunlin, 21 July, a Whimbrel, 23 July, nine Green Sandpipers, 24 July, a Wood Sandpiper, a Ruff and three Black-tailed Godwits, 25 July, two Wood Sandpipers and six Greenshanks, 26 July, and a Wood Sandpiper, a Spotted Redshank, a Ruff, three Golden Plovers, four Redshanks and 15 Snipe, 27 July. Elsewhere, six Green Sandpipers were seen at Flixton GP and a Redshank at Earsham GP, 24 July.

A Garganey in eclipse plumage was present at Carlton Marshes, 23, 24 and 27 July. A count of 19 Little Egrets was made at Carlton Marshes, 22 July, while notable gulls included two Mediterranean Gulls at Carlton Marshes and an adult Yellow-legged Gull along nearby Burnt Hill Lane, 27 July.

A Turtle Dove was noted at St James South Elmham, 22 July, while Carlton Marshes hosted a Cuckoo, 26 July, a Yellow Wagtail, 25 and 27 July, and a reeling Grasshopper Warbler, 26 and 27 July.

Single Hobbies were seen at Bungay, 25 July, and Carlton Marshes, 27 July, and two Barn Owls were reported from Carlton Marshes, 26 July.
