WBC Sightings

23 to 29 August 2015

A Redstart was seen in a garden at Carlton Colville, 28 August. Further passerine highlights included five Whinchats and two Wheatears at Carlton Marshes and two Whinchats at Oulton Marshes, 23 August and nine Yellow Wagtails at Burgh Castle, 24 August. At Lopham Fen, two Bearded Tits were recorded on 28 August and a Spotted Flycatcher the following day.

An Osprey flew north over Beccles Marshes, 28 August. Two Hobbies were seen at Carlton Marshes, 23 August, while Barn Owls were reported from Belton Marshes, 24 August, Carlton Marshes (two), 26 August and Redgrave Fen, 27 August.

Waders at Carlton Marshes included eight Ruff, two Greenshanks, two Common Sandpipers and a Redshank, 23 August and a Wood Sandpiper, two Green Sandpipers and six Dunlin, 26 August, while nine Avocets, three Greenshanks, a Green Sandpiper, a Golden Plover, 25 Curlews and a Redshank were noted at Burgh Castle, 24 August. Elsewhere, four Common Sandpipers were present at Oulton Marshes, 23 August and two Green Sandpipers and three Common Sandpipers were seen at Earsham GP and two Common Sandpipers at Weybread GP, 25 August. Finally, Little Egrets were noted at Carlton Marshes (four), 26 August and Redgrave Fen, 27 August.
