24 to 30 January 2016

A Spoonbill flew south over Burgh Castle late afternoon on 28 January, while Little Egrets noted at Outney Common, Bungay (two) and Worlingham Marshes, 24 January, Oulton Marshes and Redgrave Fen, 25 January and Haddiscoe Island (three) and Fritton Lake, 30 January.

Raptors at Haddiscoe Island included a Rough-legged Buzzard and a ringtail Hen Harrier, 24 January and a Merlin, eight Marsh Harriers, a Short-eared Owl and four Barn Owls, 30 January. Elsewhere, Marsh Harriers were recorded at Oulton Marshes, 28 January and Burgh Castle, 29 January, four Buzzards at Somerleyton, 30 January, a Short-eared Owl at Oulton Marshes, 24 January and Barn Owls at Oulton Marshes (two), 24 January and Bungay and Flixton GP, 30 January.

Nuthatches were reported from Dunburgh Hill and Earsham GP, 24 January, Lesser Redpolls from Oulton Marshes (two), 24 January and Beccles Marshes, 29 January and Grey Wagtails from Camps Heath, Oulton, 28 January and Worlingham Marshes (two), 30 January. Two Bearded Tits were noted at Burgh Castle, 29 January and Kingfishers were seen at Worlingham Marshes, 24 January, Oulton Marshes, 25 January and Beccles Quay, 27 January.

Wader counts at Burgh Castle Flats included 600 Black-tailed Godwits and 30 Curlews, 29 January and a Spotted Redshank, a Ruff, 52 Avocets, 360 Dunlin and 341 Redshanks, 30 January. Two Woodcocks were flushed at Worlingham Marshes, 24 January.

Two redhead Goldeneyes were present at Fritton Lake and 350 Teal at Burgh Castle, 30 January, with Pink-footed Geese noted at Fritton Lake (190 flew over) and St Olaves (23 flew over) on the same day.
