WBC Sightings

25 June to 1 July 2017

A male Red-backed Shrike was present at Burgh Castle Marshes, 25 and 26 June. Two Turtle Doves were seen at Weybread GP and a Grey Wagtail at nearby Weybread Mill, 25 June and two Cetti’s Warblers at Burgh Castle, 26 June. Spotted Flycatchers were recorded at Weybread Mill (two), 25 June and Beccles Common, 28 June, Cuckoos at Carlton Marshes (two), 25 June and Oulton Marshes, 26 June and Kingfishers at Weybread Mill, 25 June and Earsham, 28 June.

A Red Kite and a Hobby were seen at Earsham, 28 June, while five Hobbies were hunting at Carlton Marshes, 26 June. Barn Owls were reported from Carlton Marshes (two), 29 June and Flixton (near Bungay), 1 July.

Notable waders included two Curlews at Burgh Castle, 26 June, two Green Sandpipers at Earsham, 28 June and four Black-tailed Godwits and a Curlew at Carlton Marshes, 29 June. Finally, Little Egrets were seen at Weybread, 25 June, Redgrave Fen, 26 June, Earsham (five), 28 June and Carlton Marshes (three), 29 June.
