WBC Sightings

26 July to 1 August 2015

Waders at Carlton Marshes included a Wood Sandpiper and four Greenshanks, 29 July, six Black-tailed Godwits and five Dunlins, 30 July and three Ruffs, three Green Sandpipers and three Redshanks, 1 August, with six Green Sandpipers present at Earsham GP, 29 July. A count of waders at Burgh Castle, 31 July included 78 Avocets, 165 Black-tailed Godwits, 38 Curlews and 65 Dunlins. Little Egrets were noted at Carlton Marshes (three), 26 July, Redgrave Fen, 29 July and Oulton Marshes (two), 1 August.

A pair of Spotted Flycatchers was feeding two youngsters in a nest in a garden at St James South Elmham, 27 July, and another Spotted Flycatcher was seen at Weybread Mill, 31 July. A Grasshopper Warbler was reeling at Lopham Fen, 29 July and a Turtle Dove purring at St James South Elmham, 1 August.

Hobbies were recorded at North Cove, 28 July, Beccles Marshes, 31 July and Carlton Marshes, 1 August, with a Peregrine also seen at the latter site on the same day. Finally, Barn Owls were reported from Beccles Marshes, 28 July and Carlton Marshes (two), 31 July.
