28 October to 3 November 2018

A Rough-legged Buzzard, a Merlin and seven Marsh Harriers were recorded at Haddiscoe Island, 3 November and a male Hen Harrier flew south-east over Worlingham Marshes, 28 October. Marsh Harriers were reported from Carlton Marshes, 31 October, Oulton Marshes, 2 November and Beccles Marshes, 3 November, Short-eared Owls from Oulton, 28 October and Thorpe-next-Haddiscoe, 2 November and a Barn Owl from Herringfleet Marshes, 2 November.

The long-staying adult Cattle Egret at Carlton Marshes remained all week, while Little Egrets were noted at Lopham Fen, 28 October and Haddiscoe Island (three) and Oulton, 3 November and a Bittern was seen at Haddiscoe Island, 3 November.

A fly-over Hawfinch, a Lapland Bunting, four Water Pipits, six Rock Pipits, four Stonechats, 51 Bearded Tits and two Kingfishers were reported from Haddiscoe Island on 3 November. Elsewhere, a Grey Wagtail was recorded at Beccles, 30 October, two Crossbills at Waveney Forest, Fritton, 31 October and a Cetti’s Warbler at Oulton Marshes, 2 November. Counts of 40 Pied Wagtails at Lopham Fen and 80 Siskins and 100 Goldfinches at Worlingham Marshes were made on 3 November.

Counts of waders at Haddiscoe Island on 3 November included 606 Lapwings, 160 Golden Plovers, a Ruff, 101 Black-tailed Godwits, 55 Curlews, 11 Snipe and 18 Redshanks.

Finally, counts of 350 Pink-footed Geese and 479 Teal were made at Haddiscoe Island on 3 November.
