WBC Sightings

3 to 9 June 2018

A Corncrake was heard calling on the marshes at Bungay and Earsham, 6 to 9 June.

A Honey Buzzard flew over Carlton Marshes, 7 June. A Peregrine was seen at Oulton Marshes, 3 June and a Red Kite at Belton, 8 June. Hobbies were reported from Carlton Marshes (two), 3 June, Beccles Common, 4 June and Lopham Fen (four), 6 June and Barn Owls from Carlton Marshes, 3 June, Oulton Marshes, 6 June and Earsham Marshes, 7 June. An escaped Harris’ Hawk was seen at Castle Marsh, North Cove, 3 June.

Two Spotted Flycatchers were noted at Beccles Common, 4 June and a Grasshopper Warbler at Oulton Marshes, 6 June Cuckoos were recorded at Worlingham Marshes, 3 June, Beccles Marshes, 4 June and Lopham Fen, Carlton Marshes and Oulton Marshes, 6 June and Cetti’s Warblers at Carlton Marshes (two), Oulton Marshes and Worlingham Marshes, 3 June.

Redshanks were seen at Carlton Marshes (five) and Oulton Marshes, 3 June. Other notable sightings at Carlton Marshes included a Little Egret on 3 June and two escaped Bar-headed Geese that flew north over the reserve on 9 June.
