30 September to 6 October 2018

The long-staying adult Cattle Egret at Carlton Marshes was noted on 3 and 5 October, while Little Egrets were recorded at Burgh Castle (four), 2 October and Carlton Marshes, 5 October. A Bittern was seen at Lopham Fen, 5 October.

The first Pink-footed Geese of the autumn were seen at Burgh Castle, 2 October (a flock of 100 flew south-west).

The first Fieldfares (three at Carlton Marshes) and Redwings (43 at Carlton Marshes and two at Oulton) of the autumn were recorded on 3 October, while late Swallows were seen at Burgh Castle (two), 2 October and Carlton Marshes, 5 October. A Cetti’s Warbler was heard at Carlton Marshes on 5 October and Kingfishers were noted at Carlton Marshes on 3 October and Weybread GP on 6 October.

Waders recorded at Burgh Castle on 2 October included four Avocets. a Bar-tailed Godwit, 200 Black-tailed Godwits and 50 Curlews, while at Carlton Marshes, two Dunlin were present on 3 October and three Ruff on 5 October.

Marsh Harriers were noted at Lopham Fen, 30 September and Carlton Marshes, 5 October and a Short-eared Owl and two Barn Owls were recorded at Carlton Marshes, 3 October.
