WBC Sightings

4 to 10 October 2015

A flock of 170 Pink-footed Geese flew south at St Olaves, 10 October, while 390 Canada Geese and 333 Greylag Geese were present at Redgrave Fen, 8 October. Little Egrets were noted at Carlton Marshes (three), 7 October and Burgh Castle (11), 9 October.

Late Hobbies were seen at Lopham Fen and St Olaves and a Peregrine was roosting on the tower of St Mary’s Church, Bungay, 10 October. Marsh Harriers were recorded at St Olaves, 7 October, Beccles Marshes, 8 October and Burgh Castle (two), 9 October.

Three Swallows were seen at Burgh Castle, 9 October and a House Martin at Lopham Fen, 10 October. Two Grey Wagtails were noted at Worlingham Marshes, 5 October and two Stonechats and a Bearded Tit at Lopham Fen and a Cetti’s Warbler at Beccles Marshes, 8 October, with three Bearded Tits also recorded at Burgh Castle the following day. Finally, Kingfishers were reported from Beccles Marshes and Redgrave Fen, 8 October, Burgh Castle, 9 October and Carlton Marshes, 10 October.
