WBC Sightings

5 to 11 May 2013

A Honey Buzzard flew north over St Olaves at 11.30am on 10 May. Hobbies were noted at Carlton Marshes, 6 May, Castle Marsh, North Cove, 10 May, and Beccles Marshes (three) and North Cove Marshes, 11 May.

Three Spoonbills flying west over Langmere near Dickleburgh on 7 May was an unusual inland record. Little Egrets were seen at Carlton Marshes (three), 5 May, and Weybread GP, 11 May.

Waders at Burgh Castle Flats included six Spotted Redshank, 5 May, 12 Greenshank, 6 May, 90 Black-tailed Godwit, three Greenshank and ten Whimbrel, 10 May, and two Turnstone, 11 May. Elsewhere, two Avocet and two Greenshank were present at Carlton Marshes, 6 May, and a Whimbrel at North Cove Marshes, 11 May. Common Sandpipers were present at Oulton Marshes (two), 8 May, and Weybread GP, 11 May.

Two Wheatears were noted at Carlton Marshes, 5 May. Turtle Doves were present at Langmere, 6 May, and Sandy Lane, Belton, 11 May, while Cuckoos were recorded at Carlton Marshes (two), 5 May, and Langmere, 6 and 10 May. Residents included a Kingfisher at Beccles Marshes, 9 May, and Cetti’s Warblers at Blundeston Marshes, 5 May, Carlton Marshes (two) and Burgh Castle, 6 May, and North Cove Marshes, 11 May, and a late Lesser Redpoll was seen at Burgh Castle, 6 May.
