WBC Sightings

6 to 12 October

Notable passerine migrants at Burgh Castle included a Wheatear, 9 October and a Yellow-browed Warbler and two Ring Ouzels, 12 October, while a very late Reed Warbler was seen at Carlton Marshes, 6 October. A Lesser Redpoll was noted at Carlton Marshes and three Bearded Tits at Burgh Castle, 6 October and two Crossbills at Waveney Forest, Fritton, 11 October, while Cetti’s Warblers were recorded at Carlton Marshes (three), 6 October and Beccles Marshes, 8 October.

Waders at Burgh Castle Flats included a Spotted Redshank, two Little Stints, five Avocets, two Bar-tailed Godwits, 15 Black-tailed Godwits, four Greenshanks, two Common Sandpipers, ten Curlews, ten Redshanks, 40 Dunlin and nine Ringed Plovers, 6 October, with a Curlew Sandpiper noted at the same location, 9 October. Little Egrets were recorded at Burgh Castle (14) and Carlton Marshes (two), 6 October.

Marsh Harriers were noted at Burgh Castle and Carlton Marshes, 6 October and Beccles Marshes, 8 October, with Barn Owls at Carlton Marshes, 6 October and Beccles Marshes, 8 October.
