The long-staying Great White Egret remained at Redgrave Fen throughout the week and Little Egrets were recorded at Carlton Marshes (four) and Redgrave Fen, 7 January.
A group of seven Bewick’s Swans circled Ocean Pit, Weybread before flying off east, 10 January, while a single Brent Goose was present at Carlton Marshes, 12 January and 360 Pink-footed Geese flew over St Olaves, 13 January. Notable counts of ducks included 250 Teal at Castle Marsh, North Cove, 9 January, 122 Tufted Ducks at Weybread GP, 10 January and 200 Wigeon at Oulton Marshes, 11 January.
A Grey Wagtail was seen at Beccles and five Lesser Redpolls at Carlton Marshes, 7 January, a Nuthatch at Lopham Fen, 9 January and a Water Pipit and a Chiffchaff at Carlton Marshes, 11 January. Stonechats were recorded at Castle Marsh (two), 7 January, Carlton Marshes, 9 January and Lopham Fen (two), 12 January; Bearded Tits at Carlton Marshes (two), Castle Marsh (two), 7 January and Lopham Fen, 13 January; Cetti’s Warblers at Carlton Marshes and Castle Marsh, 9 January and Oulton Marshes (three), 11 January and Kingfishers at Carlton Marshes, 8 January, Weybread GP, 10 January and Oulton Marshes, 11 January. A pre-roost count of 1500 Starlings was made at Lopham Fen, 7 January.
Marsh Harriers were noted at Castle Marsh, 7 January, Carlton Marshes (two), 9 January, Oulton Marshes, 11 January and Lopham Fen, 13 January and a Barn Owl was recorded at Carlton Marshes, 9 January.
Waders included 20 Snipe at Carlton Marshes, 7 January and two Woodcocks and 24 Black-tailed Godwits at North Cove and three Redshanks at Carlton Marshes, 9 January.
