WBC Sightings

8 to 14 March 2015

Two Cranes were seen at Haddiscoe Marshes, 11 March, while Little Egrets were noted at Haddiscoe Island (two) and Fritton Marshes, 8 March and Carlton Marshes (two), 10 March.

Two Rough-legged Buzzards were recorded at Belton, 8 March, with one at nearby Haddiscoe Island up to 12 March. Other raptors at Haddiscoe Island included five Buzzards, 8 March and a ringtail Hen Harrier, three Short-eared Owls and a Barn Owl, 11 March. Elsewhere, Buzzards were noted at Ashby (ten), 8 March and Barnby (five), 10 March, two Short-eared Owls at Oulton Marshes, 9 March and Barn Owls at Lopham Fen (two) and Oulton Marshes (two), 8 March and Carlton Marshes and Fritton Marshes, 10 March.

Two Bearded Tits were recorded at Oulton Marshes, 8 March, a flock of 300 Fieldfares was present at Redwings Horse Sanctuary, Fritton, 11 March and a Grey Wagtail was seen at Beccles Quay, 12 March. Cetti’s Warblers were noted at Oulton Marshes (five), 8 March and Carlton Marshes, 10 March and Kingfishers at Oulton Marshes, 8 March, Beccles Quay (two), 9 March and Carlton Marshes, 10 March.

Waders included a Ringed Plover and nine Redshank at Carlton Marshes, 8 March, a Woodcock at St Olaves, 11 March, a Black-tailed Godwit at Thorpe-next-Haddiscoe, 13 March and 200 Avocets and 300 Black-tailed Godwits at Burgh Castle Flats, 14 March. Finally, a Pink-footed Goose flew over Beccles, 10 March and 289 Wigeon were counted at Oulton Marshes, 8 March.
