WBC Sightings

8 to 14 September

Migrant passerines included a Whinchat at Thorpe-next-Haddiscoe, 8 September and a Wheatear at the same location the following day, while a late Sand Martin was seen at Beccles Marshes, 12 September. Kingfishers were reported at Oulton Dyke, 8 September and Beccles Marshes, 12 September.

Notable waders included four Greenshanks at Carlton Marshes, 8 September, a Common Sandpiper at Oulton Dyke, 9 September, two juvenile Spotted Redshanks and a Greenshank at Earsham GP, 11 September, two Curlew Sandpipers and a Common Sandpiper at Burgh Castle Flats, two Green Sandpipers at Earsham GP and four Ruff at Carlton Marshes, 12 September, and two Greenshanks, a Common Sandpiper and two Green Sandpipers at Flixton GP, 14 September.

Hobbies were seen at Carlton Marshes (two) and Langley Marshes, Haddiscoe, 8 September, Burgh Castle, 12 September, Barsham Marshes (two), 13 September and Flixton GP, 14 September. Marsh Harriers were noted at Langley Marshes, Haddiscoe, 8 September and Barsham Marshes (two), 13 September, while a Barn Owl was recorded at Oulton Marshes, 10 September.

An impressive count of 36 Little Egrets was made at Langley Marshes, Haddiscoe, 8 September, with one at Carlton Marshes on the same day.
