The moulting drake Ring-necked Duck remained on Peto’s Marsh all month, a Ruddy Shelduck reported at the same locality on the 22nd was the only other wildfowl worthy of note. A Night Heron was reported on Peto’s Marsh on the 20th, Cattle Egret reports were as follows, Blyth Estuary 3rd (1), Minsmere 12th (5), Minsmere 16th (3) and Aldeburgh Town marshes 21st (1). Seven Great Egrets roosted at Carlton Marshes on the 18th, seven Spoonbills were at Minsmere 29th with three at Aldeburgh Town marshes on the 27th, Glossy Ibis at Aldeburgh Town marsh increased to two on the 13th where they remained until the end of the month. The only raptor reports of interest this month involved a male Honey Buzzard over the Minsmere approach road on the 28th, the next day two Honey Buzzards were watched over the Minsmere reedbed. A Pectoral Sandpiper was at Aldeburgh Town marshes 19th-27th and was joined on various dates by Wood Sandpipers, Little Stints, Little Ringed Plovers and Spotted Redshanks. A first summer Arctic Tern was reported from Minsmere scrape on the 2nd and 9th, a maximum count of thirteen Little Gulls was achieved on the scrape on the 13th. Three Bee-eaters flew north over Aldeburgh Golf course on the 26th. The strangest report of the month involved a Waxwing, apparently photographed on a TV aerial in Lound village on the 2nd.
