The Lesser Yellowlegs was again present at Burgh Castle, 17 and 18 January, while a count of waders at the same site on 23 January included 23 Avocets, 13 Black-tailed Godwits, 35 Curlews, 50 Redshanks and 1000 Lapwings. A Green Sandpiper was noted at Haddiscoe Island, 17 January.
A Ring Ouzel was an unseasonable record at Oulton Marshes, 23 January. Elsewhere, a Water Pipit was seen at Carlton Marshes and a Grey Wagtail at Worlingham Marshes, 17 January and a Firecrest was again present in a garden at Barnby, 21 January. Bearded Tits were recorded at Burgh Castle (six) and Carlton Marshes, 17 January and Burgh St Peter (two) and Lopham Fen (two), 23 January; Cetti’s Warblers at Carlton Marshes (five), 17 January and Burgh Castle, 19 January; Kingfishers at Beccles Marshes and Carlton Marshes, 17 January and Lopham Fen, 23 January; Lesser Redpolls at Earsham, 20 January and North Cove (nine), 21 January and Stonechats at Oulton Marshes, 20 January and Castle Marsh, North Cove (two), 21 January.
A Merlin was seen at Fritton Marshes, 23 January. Nearby, Haddiscoe Island hosted two Marsh Harriers and two Barn Owls, 17 January, a male Hen Harrier, 18 January and a Peregrine and a Short-eared Owl, 23 January. Further Marsh Harriers were noted at Belton, 17 January, Lopham Fen and Oulton Marshes, 19 January, Carlton Marshes and Somerleyton Marshes, 20 January, Beccles Marshes and North Cove (two), 21 January and Burgh Castle (three), 23 January; Short-eared Owls at Lopham Fen, 18 January, Oulton Marshes (two), 19 January and Fritton Marshes, 23 January and Barn Owls at Carlton Marshes (three), Belton Marshes (two) and Beccles Marshes, 17 January, Lopham Fen and Somerleyton Marshes, 20 January and Oulton Marshes (three), 21 January.
Goosanders were seen at Burgh Castle (male), 17 January and Castle Marsh (redhead), 21 January, Pink-footed Geese at Burgh St Peter (230) and St Olaves (36), 23 January and Little Egrets at Haddiscoe Island (six), 17 January, North Cove, 21 January and Carlton Marshes (11) and Lopham Fen, 23 January.
